Unconferences are participant-driven, interactive, unconventional meetings designed to maximize the informal exchanges and stimulating discussions that typically occur during networking breaks at traditional conferences. Unconference participants learn from conversations and activities, while collaborating to create something new.
The call for up to 10 projects to be addressed during the RRiA Unconference 2025 is open. Details regarding the submission of projects can be found here.
. Deadline for submissions is February 9, 2025 at 11:59 pm (CET).
Projects to be discussed and worked on at the unconference will be peer reviewed and selected by the Programme Organizing Committee.
Projects may seek to improve any aspect of responsible research culture and practice in several disciplines, including all phases of the research process.
Examples may include projects related to open science, responsible research practices, team science, stakeholder engagement in research, diversity, equity and inclusion, research assessment reform, research funding allocation, or scholarly communication.
Persons submitting project ideas that are selected by the Programme Organizing Committee will act as Project Team Leaders.
For each project, there may be one main project leader and one co-leader.
Thus, we invite researchers and other research-related stakeholders working worldwide on any scientific discipline and at any stage of their careers to submit your project ideas, and strongly encourage the participation of early career researchers (both as leader or as co-leader of a project).
Apart from the Project Team Leaders, the RRiA Unconference 2025 will receive around 150 regular attendees, who will select to actively participate in one project.
Independently of an academic career, we invite other stakeholders such as funders, publishers and editors, regulators, and leaders of research institutions to join the unconference and actively contribute to selected projects seeking to enhance responsible research culture and practice.
Registration for the Unconference will open at the end of April. The exact date will be communicated in due time. To stay informed, please register for our newsletter.
Participants will register for working on a project during the Responsible Research in Action Unconference 2025.
Project team sizes will be set in consultation with the Project Team Leaders and will not exceed 20 persons per group.
Registered participants will work in transdisciplinary project teams to co-create outputs leading to actionable solutions to improve responsible research culture and practice. Potential outputs might include toolboxes, tools, grass roots initiatives, recommendations, or networks.
The Responsible Research in action unconference will also include opportunities for cross-pollination and networking among different projects. At the culminating session, each group will briefly present what they accomplished, including challenges, outputs created during the unconference and plans for further work after the conference, including sharing experiences.
