How to use principles of behaviour change in improving research culture
Facilitated by Sadie Boniface, Principal Research Fellow at University College London and Research Lead at the Centre for Behaviour Change, and Dr Emma Francis, Research Fellow at the Centre for Behaviour Change
About the workshop
The workshop will start by explaining how improving research culture(s) requires behaviour change. Participants will then be introduced to key behavioural science theory and frameworks, gaining an appreciation that for behaviour to change, we need to understand the things that help and hinder someone from ‚doing‘ that behaviour. This will be followed by an introduction to a systematic approach to developing behaviour change interventions, the Behaviour Change Wheel. The session will conclude with examples of how behavioural science is being applied to research culture topics such as researcher promotions, career paths for technical staff, research leadership, and more, with some reflections from the facilitators for participants to take into the unconference
